Disc and Pressure Plate: Installation

- Place the flywheel and the clutch pressure plate in a press. Using a suitable adapter, compress the clutch diaphragm fingers until the adjusting ring moves
- Adjust the clutch pressure plate as follows:
- Rotate the adjusting ring counterclockwise until the tension springs are compressed.
- Hold the adjusting ring, then release the pressure on the clutch pressure plate fingers.
- Using the special tool, position the clutch disc on the flywheel.
- Position the clutch pressure plate on the dowels, install the clutch pressure plate bolts and remove the special tool.
- Apply Threadlock and Sealer TA-25 meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G351-A5 to the clutch pressure plate bolt threads.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).

- Before securing the transmission to the engine, install the hydraulic line to the clutch slave cylinder.
- Operate the vehicle to check clutch operation.
NOTE:
The self-adjusting clutch pressure plate should always be adjusted before installation.
NOTE:
If installing the original clutch pressure plate, use the index marks made during removal.
