WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- F1 CHECK CIRCUIT 684 (PK/YE) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Windshield Wiper Motor C125.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the resistance between C125-12, circuit 684 (PK/YE), harness side and ground while depressing the multifunction switch to the windshield wiper wash position.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to F3.
- No : GO to F2.
- F2 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202a.
- Carry out the multifunction switch component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING -- F150 PICKUP for component testing.
- Did the multifunction switch pass the component test?
- Yes : REPAIR circuit 685 (PK/YE) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES .
- F3 CHECK CIRCUIT 941 (BK/WH) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Key in OFF position.
- Connect: Windshield Wiper Motor C125.
- Disconnect: Washer Pump Motor C137.
- Measure the resistance between C137-1, circuit 941 (BK/WH) harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to F4.
- No : GO to F5.
- F4 CHECK CIRCUIT 941 (BK/WH) FOR VOLTAGE
- Key in OFF position.
- Connect: Windshield Wiper Motor C125.
- Disconnect: Washer Pump Motor C137.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between C137 pin 1, circuit 941 (BK/WH) harness side and ground while depressing the multifunction switch to the windshield wiper wash position.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : INSTALL a new washer pump motor. REFER to WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP AND RESERVOIR . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to F5.
- F5 CHECK CIRCUIT 941 (BK/WH) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Windshield Wiper Motor C125.
- Measure the resistance between C125-7, circuit 941 (BK/WH), harness side and C137-1, circuit 941 (BK/WH), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to F6.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- F6 CHECK. FOR CORRECT WIPER MOTOR OPERATION
- Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the wiper motor connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new windshield wiper motor. REFER to WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR .
- No : The system is working correctly at this time. The concern might have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
