Both fenders

  1. If equipped, remove the wheelhouse lip moulding.
  2. Remove the headlamp assembly. For additional information, REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .

    RH fender 

  3. Remove the antenna cable. For additional information, REFER to ANTENNA .

    Both fenders 

  4. Remove the fender splash shield. For additional information, refer to FENDER SPLASH SHIELD .
  5. Remove the front bumper cover-to-fender bolts.
  6. Remove the front bumper cover pin-type retainer.
  7. Remove the lower A-pillar fender bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  8. Remove the lower fender bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
  9. Remove the top fender bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  10. Remove the rear expandable foam baffle pin-type retainers.
  11. NOTE: If installing a new fender, the rear expandable foam baffle will be part of the new fender assembly. Use Motorcraft®TA-4 expandable foam sealant only if the rear foam baffle does not correctly seal the space between the rear expandable foam baffle and the cowling.
  12. If reusing an existing fender, use Motorcraft®TA-4 expandable foam sealant to seal the area between the rear expandable foam baffle and the cowling.

    Remove the rear expandable foam baffle.

    • If expandable foam sealant has been used between the rear expandable foam baffle and the cowling, carefully cut the foam sealant to remove the rear expandable foam baffle from the cowling.
  13. Remove the front expandable foam baffle pin-type retainers.

    LH fender

  14. NOTE: If installing a new fender, the front expandable foam baffle will be part of the new fender assembly. Use Motorcraft®TA-4 expandable foam sealant only if the front foam baffle does not correctly seal the space between the front expandable foam baffle and the inner front fender.
  15. If reusing an existing fender, use Motorcraft®TA-4 expandable foam sealant to seal the area between the front expandable foam baffle and the inner front fender.

    Remove the front expandable foam baffle.

    • If expandable foam sealant has been used between the front expandable foam baffle and the inner front fender, carefully cut the foam sealant to remove the front expandable foam baffle from the inner front fender.

    Both fenders

  16. Remove the magform screw.
    • To install, tighten to 14 Nm (10 lb-ft).
  17. Remove the fender.
  18. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
