Pinpoint Test N: The Hazard Lamp(S) Are Inoperative

  1. N1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE INDICATOR FLASHER RELAY 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Indicator Flasher C2047.
    • Measure the voltage between indicator flasher relay C2047-86, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to  N3.
    • No  : GO to N2.
  2. N2 CHECK CIRCUIT 10 (LG/RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Observe the rear lamps while pressing and releasing the brake pedal.
    • Do the rear stoplamps operate correctly? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REFER to STOPLAMPS  to diagnose the stoplamps.
  3. N3 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the resistance between indicator flasher relay C2047-85, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  N4.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. N4 CHECK CIRCUIT 385 (WH/RD) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202c.
    • Measure the resistance between multifunction switch C202c-1, circuit 385 (WH/RD), harness side and indicator flasher relay C2047-87a, circuit 385 (WH/RD), harness side; and between multifunction switch C202c-1, circuit 385 (WH/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the multifunction switch and the indicator flasher relay; and greater than 10,000 ohms between the multifunction switch and ground? 
    • Yes  : GO to  N5.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. N5 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new indicator flasher relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
