Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

All vehicles

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. For additional information, REFER to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. If equipped, remove the rear entertainment system. For additional information, REFER to VIDEO SYSTEM .
  3. If equipped with a single overhead console, remove the overhead console. If equipped with a modular overhead console, remove the modular components. For additional information, REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  4. Remove the A-pillar trim panel. For additional information, refer to A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
  5. Remove the B-pillar trim panel. For additional information, refer to B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL - REGULAR CAB , B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL - SUPER CAB  or B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL - SUPER CREW .
  6. If equipped, remove the C-pillar trim panel. For additional information, refer to C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
  7. Disconnect the rear electrical connector.
  8. Remove the LH and RH sun visor retaining screws.
  9. Remove the LH and RH sun visor retaining clips.
  10. Remove the sun visors.
    • If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors.
  11. Disconnect the interior mirror electrical connector.
  12. If equipped, remove the roof opening panel trim.
  13. Remove the 2 coat hooks.
  14. If equipped, remove the 2 headliner pin-type retainers.
  15. If equipped, remove the 4 modular overhead console track screws.

    Regular Cab and Super Cab 

  16. Remove the LH and RH rear door latch cover bolts.

  17. Remove the LH and RH rear door latch covers.
  18. Remove the headliner.
    • Slide the headliner forward until it detaches from the roof.

    Super Crew 

  19. Position the headliner aside.
  20. Remove the rear window glass. For additional information, REFER to GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS .
  21. Remove the headliner.
    • Remove the headliner through the rear window glass opening.

    All vehicles 

  22. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Place the headliner in position by aligning the headliner and rails with the front overhead console bracket.
