Removal and Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Remove the dust cap.
- Remove and discard the wheel end nut.
- To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
- Remove the vacuum and vent line at the vacuum and vent port of the integrated wheel end.
- Remove the 3 integrated wheel end bolts.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
- Remove the tie-rod nut and separate the tie rod from the knuckle.
- Discard the tie-rod nut.
- To install, tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).
- Remove the upper ball joint nut and separate the upper ball joint from the knuckle.
- Discard the upper ball joint nut.
- To install, tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).
- Once clearance is available, remove the halfshaft outboard end and integrated wheel end from the hub bearing.
- Remove the integrated wheel end from the halfshaft outboard end.
- Remove the 6 halfshaft flange-to-axle shaft flange bolts.
- To install, tighten to 82 Nm (60 lb-ft).
- Separate the halfshaft from the axle and remove the halfshaft from the vehicle.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install the following new fasteners:
- Wheel end nut
- Tie-rod nut
- Upper ball joint nut
- Install the following new fasteners:
CAUTION:
Do not damage the hub seal.
NOTE:
Allow the steering knuckle to swing outward while keeping the halfshaft pushed inward.

Do not damage the hub seal.
CAUTION:
Do not install the integrated wheel end in the knuckle. It must be installed on the outer constant velocity joint housing.
CAUTION:
Do not dislodge the integrated wheel end seal spring when installing the integrated wheel end on the outer constant velocity joint housing.
NOTE:
Compress the integrated wheel end and install a vacuum cap on the vacuum port.
