- Testing Fuel Filler Pipe & Check Valve -
Remove fuel filler cap. Connect Evaporative Emissions System Leak Tester (134-00056) or equivalent to fuel filler pipe. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, close canister vent solenoid. Select OUTPUT TEST MODE, FTP and VPID. Select ALL OFF mode. Press START button on scan tool to close canister vent solenoid. Access PCM PID FTP V. Pressurize system to 3.48 kPa (14 In. H2O). If PCM PID FTP V is 4.22-4.90 volts, go to next step. If PCM PID FTP V is not as specified, replace fuel filler pipe and check valve. Perform EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS REPAIR VERIFICATION DRIVE CYCLE. See DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURES under ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS.
- Testing EVAP System For Restriction
Attempt to pressurize system to 3.48 kPa (14 In. H2O). On Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and Town Car, if system pressurizes, go to next step. On all other models, if system pressurizes, go to step 4. If system does not pressurize, remove tester from fuel filler pipe and install fuel filler cap. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS REPAIR VERIFICATION DRIVE CYCLE. See DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURES under ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS.
- Testing Canister Vent Solenoid Remote Vent Hose Assembly For Blockage
Disconnect canister vent solenoid remote vent hose from in-line connector. Pressurize system to 3.48 kPa (14 In. H2O). If system does not pressurize, repair or replace canister vent solenoid remote vent hose. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system pressurizes, go to next step.
- Testing Canister Vent Hose For Blockage
Remove canister vent hose from canister vent solenoid. Attempt to pressurize system to 3.48 kPa (14 In. H2O). If system pressurizes, go to next step. If system does not pressurize, replace canister vent hose. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS REPAIR VERIFICATION DRIVE CYCLE. See DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURES under ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS.
- Testing Canister Vent Solenoid For Blockage
Remove canister vent solenoid from EVAP canister. Attempt to pressurize system to 3.48 kPa (14 In. H2O). If system pressurizes, go to next step. If system does not pressurize, replace canister vent solenoid. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS REPAIR VERIFICATION DRIVE CYCLE. See DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURES under ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS.
- Testing EVAP Canister For Blockage
Remove EVAP canister tube from EVAP canister. Attempt to pressurize system to 3.48 kPa (14 In. H2O). If system pressurizes, go to next step. If system does not pressurize, replace EVAP canister. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS REPAIR VERIFICATION DRIVE CYCLE. See DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURES under ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS.
- Testing Fuel Vapor Valve Tube Assembly For Blockage
Disconnect EVAP canister tube at fuel vapor valve tube assembly. Attempt to pressurize system to 3.48 kPa (14 In. H2O). If system pressurizes, replace fuel vapor valve tube assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS REPAIR VERIFICATION DRIVE CYCLE. See DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURES under ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS. If system does not pressurize, replace EVAP canister tube. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS REPAIR VERIFICATION DRIVE CYCLE. See DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURES under ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS.
