DTC C1233, C1234, C1235, C1236: Wheel Speed Input Signal Missing

  1. Check suspect ABS wheel speed sensor mounting. Check for excessive dirt, obstructions and damage. If sensor and mounting are okay, go to next step. Repair any obstructions, damage or mounting problems. Clear DTCs. Repeat self-test.
  2. Check toothed sensor indicator ring for bent sensor ring, missing or damaged teeth, correct mounting and proper alignment with ABS sensor. Check air gap and bearing endplay. Repair as necessary. If bearing endplay and toothed sensor indicator ring are okay, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Connect NGS tester. Clear DTCs. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. While driving at various speeds, for at least 10 miles, monitor appropriate wheel PID (LF_WSPD, RF_WSPD, LR_WSPD or RR_WSPD). If PID reads same under all conditions, clear DTCs. Repeat self-test. If DTC C1233, C1234, C1235 or C1236 is retrieved, replace Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Repeat self-test. If no DTCs are retrieved, system is operating normally. Repeat self-test. If PID does not read same under all conditions, replace appropriate wheel speed sensor. Clear DTCs. Repeat self-test
