Using New Generation Star (NGS) Tester
- Turn ignition off. Locate Data Link Connector (DLC) behind left side of instrument panel. Following manufacturer's instructions, connect NGS Tester (007-00500) to DLC.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Perform vehicle selection. If NGS tester does not communicate with vehicle, check following:
- Check if proper program card is installed.
- Check for proper connections to vehicle.
- Check ignition switch position.
If tester still does not properly communicate, go to NO COMMUNICATION WITH ABS CONTROL MODULE under SYMPTOM TESTS. If CKT 914, CKT 915, OR CKT 70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP is displayed, diagnose module communications network. See appropriate
MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for ABS control module is displayed, go to NO COMMUNICATION WITH ABS CONTROL MODULE under SYMPTOM TESTS. If tester communicates properly, go to next step.
- Using NGS tester, retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from ABS control module and execute self-test diagnostics. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS table. If self-test passes and no DTCs are set, go to TROUBLE SHOOTING for symptom diagnosis.
