Test Tb: Transmission Control Switch Not Operating Properly

- Check Fuse No. 30
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove and inspect fuse No. 30 (7.5-amp). If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is not okay, replace fuse. If fuse blows again, repair short to ground in appropriate circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . - Check Circuit For Open
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect gearshift lever unit harness connector C931. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 7 (Green/Black wire) at gearshift lever unit harness connector C931. If voltage is 10 volts or greater, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Green/Black wire. Reconnect all connectors, and retest system operation. - Check Gearshift Lever Unit
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance of Green/Black wire by backprobing between terminals No. 7 and 8 at gearshift lever unit harness connector C931, while cycling Transmission Control Switch (TCS). Resistance should change from greater than 10 k/ohms to 5 ohms or less. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace gearshift lever unit. - Check PCM Control Circuit For Open
Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Disconnect PCM harness connector C421. Disconnect gearshift lever unit harness connector C931. Install breakout box, leaving PCM disconnected. Measure resistance of Green/Black wire between terminal No. 8 at gearshift lever unit harness connector C931 and breakout box test pin No. 29. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Green/Black wire. - Check PCM Control Circuit For Short To Power
Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and breakout box test pin No. 29. If voltage is less than one volt, replace PCM. If voltage is one volt or greater, repair short to power in Green/Black wire.
