Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove air inlet tube(s) as necessary. Release CNG or LPG fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM VENTING . On bi-fuel vehicles, release fuel system pressure from gasoline system. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE under FUEL SYSTEM (GASOLINE ENGINES) in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - TRUCKS article. On all models, disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect fuel inlet and return lines. See DISCONNECTING LPG CONNECTOR (SPRING LOCK-TYPE)  under FUEL LINE FITTINGS. Disconnect wiring harness connectors from injectors and fuel shutoff solenoid. Remove fuel rail bolts. Remove fuel rails and injectors as an assembly. Remove compuvalve. See COMPUVALVE .
  3. Remove gasoline fuel injection supply manifold. See FUEL RAILS & INJECTORS under FUEL SYSTEM (GASOLINE ENGINES) in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - TRUCKS article. Remove vaporizer and bracket as an assembly. See VAPORIZER (FUEL HEATER) .
  4. Disconnect the accelerator and speed control cable. Disconnect Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Disconnect generator wiring. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor. Remove bolts retaining ignition coils and remove ignition coils. Remove CNG or LPG fuel injection supply manifold and injectors as an assembly. Remove fuel injector sleeves.
  5. To install, position NEW natural gas approved "O" rings onto fuel injectors. Lightly lubricate "O" rings with clean engine oil. DO NOT use silicone-based lubricant. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Ensure injectors are properly seated. Tighten fuel rail bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. After installation is completed, pressurize CNG or LPG fuel system and inspect fittings for leaks. Perform LEAK TEST (CNG) or LEAK TEST (LPG) under FUEL SYSTEM (NATURAL GAS VEHICLES) in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - EEC-V (BI-FUEL & NATURAL GAS) article.
