Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the hood latch. For additional information, refer to HOOD LATCH  in this article.
  3. Remove the pin-type retainers.

  4. Position the air deflector aside to reveal the hood latch release cable guide.
  5. Remove the hood latch release cable guide.

  6. Remove the remaining hood latch release cable guides.

  7. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM). For additional information, refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - GASOLINE ENGINES (gas) or ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - DIESEL ENGINE (diesel).
  8. Remove the A-pillar lower trim panel. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  9. Remove the nuts.

  10. Lower the hood latch release/park brake bracket from the vehicle.
  11. Remove the hood latch release cable from the handle.
    • Release the cable conduit.
    • Remove the cable.
  12. Remove the hood latch release cable and dash panel grommet through the front of the vehicle.
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
