Exhaust Intermediate Pipe: Removal

NOTE: Exhaust fasteners are of a torque prevailing design. Use only new fasteners with the same part number as the original. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of exhaust components.
NOTE: Some vehicle applications are not equipped with an exhaust intermediate pipe.

All engines 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Gasoline engines 

  3. Loosen the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-catalytic converter or catalytic converter delete pipe coupling.
  4. Loosen the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-muffler coupling.
  5. If equipped, disconnect the intermediate pipe from the rubber isolator.
  6. Remove the exhaust intermediate pipe.
  7. Diesel engines 

  8. Loosen the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-catalytic converter coupling.
  9. Loosen the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-muffler coupling.
  10. If equipped, disconnect the intermediate pipe from the rubber isolator.
  11. Remove the exhaust intermediate pipe.
