Extension Housing Gasket: Removal

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING for E-series, or JACKING & LIFTING - F150 PICKUP .

NOTE: The output shaft and driveshaft are a balanced assembly.

Mark the driveshaft flange and the rear pinion flange for correct alignment during assembly.
Remove the four bolts.

Remove the driveshaft.

Disconnect the catalyst monitoring sensor harness connectors. Remove the harness bracket.

Remove the two nuts, one bolt and position the hanger aside.

Install a suitable high lift transmission jack.
Raise the transmission to gain access to the support insulator retainer bolt, remove the bolt and the support insulator.

Remove the extension housing and gasket.
1. Remove the bolts and nuts.
2. Remove the extension housing and gasket.
