Removal and Installation

Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
Remove the splash shield.
Remove the accessory drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley.

Disconnect and detach the crankshaft position sensor electrical connector and position the wiring harness aside.

Detach the wiring harness from the bracket.

Disconnect the A/C compressor field coil electrical connector.

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the A/C compressor bolts.

Loosen the bolts enough to slide the A/C compressor down one inch, allowing access for crankshaft position (CKP) sensor removal.
Remove the CKP sensor bolt and the crankshaft sensor.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
