Oil Pan - Lower: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable, For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  3. Remove the engine cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  4. Remove the cooling fan stator. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  5. Remove the A/C compressor. For additional information, refer to AIR CONDITIONING .
  6. Remove the power steering pump upper mounting bolts.

  7. Remove the LH fan stator stand-off.

  8. NOTE: The front bolt will remain in the power steering pump.

  9. Remove the bolts and position the power steering pump aside.
  10. Remove the oil pan drain plug.

  11. Loosen the exhaust pipe retaining nuts.

  13. Remove the motor mount retaining nuts.
  14. Remove the RH fan stator stand-off. Remove the bolt and position the cable aside.

  15. Install the special tools.

  16. Install the engine lifting attachment and floor crane.

  17. CAUTION: Use care when raising the engine to avoid engine or body damage
  18. Raise the engine.
  19. NOTE: The oil pan bolts must be reinstalled in their original positions. Mark the location of the longer bolts to aid in installation.

  20. Remove the bolts and position back the oil pan until the oil pickup tube bolts are accessible.
  21. Remove the bolts and let the oil pickup tube go into the oil pan. Remove the oil pan.

  22. Remove and discard the oil pickup tube O-ring seal.

  23. Remove the press-in-place gasket and discard.
    • Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.
