P1116 - Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Out Of Self- Test Range

P1116 - ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR OUT OF SELF- TEST RANGE

Description:  Indicates the ECT sensor is out of self-test range. The correct range is 0.3 to 3.7 volts.
Possible Causes: 
  • Overheating condition.
  • Malfunctioning thermostat.
  • Damaged ECT sensor.
  • Low engine coolant.
  • Damaged harness connector.
  • Damaged PCM.
Diagnostic Aids:  Engine coolant temperature must be greater than 10°C (50°F) to pass the KOEO self - test and greater than 82°C (180°F) to pass the KOER self-test.
Application  Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory
