Runs Rough: Idle

NOTE: Perform the following preliminary checks:

Check for correct engine oil level.
Confirm oil change within 12,070 km (7,500 miles).
Check air intake system: Air filter restriction gauge, Inlet for obstruction/restrictions. Reset air filter restriction gauge.
Confirm acceptable SAE oil viscosity and API rating of oil.
Check fuel quality. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC SUBROUTINES - 6.0L DIESEL .

SYSTEM/COMPONENT	REFERENCE (PINPOINT TEST - 6.0L DIESEL unless noted)
Perform KOEO On-Demand Self Test	GO to the appropriate pinpoint test if fault is indicated.
Perform KOEO Injector Electrical Self Test (Click Test)	GO to the appropriate pinpoint test if fault is indicated.
Low Idle Stability Test/Injection Control Pressure Test	GO to DIAGNOSTIC SUBROUTINES - 6.0L DIESEL , Performance Diagnostic Procedures. PERFORM Low Idle Stability (ICP Pressure) Test.
Check For Biased ICP Sensor	GO to PINPOINT TEST Q: INJECTION CONTROL PRESSURE (ICP) SENSOR .
Check Fuel Pump Pressure	GO to DIAGNOSTIC SUBROUTINES - 6.0L DIESEL , Performance Diagnostic Procedures. PERFORM Fuel Pump Pressure Test.
Check Lubrication Pressure	Refer to the appropriate ENGINE article.
KOEO On-Demand Self Test	GO to DIAGNOSTIC SUBROUTINES - 6.0L DIESEL , Performance Diagnostic Procedures. PERFORM KOEO On-Demand Self Test. If DTC P2291 is present, GO to PINPOINT TEST AQ: INJECTION CONTROL PRESSURE TOO LOW - ENGINE .
Check Rough Idle	Complete the Performance Diagnostics Form. If rough idle was present when vehicle was new or after installing a new high-pressure pump, CHECK the high-pressure oil pump.
Check For Engine Wear	GO to DIAGNOSTIC SUBROUTINES - 6.0L DIESEL , Performance Diagnostic Procedures. PERFORM Crankcase Pressure Test. If crankcase pressure is greater than 15 mm Hg (8 in H 2 O), REPAIR engine as required. If crankcase pressure is less than 15 mm Hg (8 in H 2 O), GO to P: Misfire/Injector Driver Circuit Operation STEP P15 DTCs P0263, P0266, P0269, P0272, P0275, P0278, P0281 OR P0284.
Check EGR Operation	GO to DIAGNOSTIC SUBROUTINES - 6.0L DIESEL , Performance Diagnostic Procedures. PERFORM the EGR Position Test.
Check Injector Operation	GO to DIAGNOSTIC SUBROUTINES - 6.0L DIESEL . PERFORM the Injector Interrupt For Enhanced Diagnostic Test.
Check For Aerated Oil	GO to DIAGNOSTIC SUBROUTINES - 6.0L DIESEL , Performance Diagnostic Procedures. PERFORM Oil Aeration Test.
