Testing Precautions

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2002 Lincoln Navigator, 2002 Ford Expedition, 2001 Lincoln Navigator, 2001 Ford RV Cutaway, and 2001 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Engine coolant and transmission fluid MUST be at proper level and operating temperature. Hold accelerator down long enough to stabilize tachometer. DO NOT hold at WOT for more than 5 seconds. DO NOT exceed maximum specified RPM for vehicle. After testing each range, run engine in Neutral at 1000 RPM for 15 seconds to cool torque converter. If engine speed exceeds specification, release accelerator immediately, as this indicates clutch or band slippage.
