Test G: Coasting Clutch Solenoid

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Mercury Villager. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect transaxle solenoid harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (component side) at transaxle solenoid harness connector. If resistance is 20-40 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 20-40 ohms, replace coasting clutch solenoid. See appropriate AUTOMATIC article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING.
  2. Disconnect TCM harness connector C277A. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 20 (Orange/Black wire) at TCM harness connector C277A. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 10 k/ohms, replace TCM. See TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Measure resistance of Orange/Black wire between terminal No. 2 at transaxle solenoid harness connector and terminal No. 20 at TCM harness connector C277A. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace TCM. See TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Black wire.
