Test G: Coasting Clutch Solenoid
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Mercury Villager. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect transaxle solenoid harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (component side) at transaxle solenoid harness connector. If resistance is 20-40 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 20-40 ohms, replace coasting clutch solenoid. See appropriate AUTOMATIC article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING.
- Disconnect TCM harness connector C277A. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 20 (Orange/Black wire) at TCM harness connector C277A. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 10 k/ohms, replace TCM. See TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Measure resistance of Orange/Black wire between terminal No. 2 at transaxle solenoid harness connector and terminal No. 20 at TCM harness connector C277A. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace TCM. See TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Black wire.
