Test A: Shift Solenoids

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect transaxle solenoid harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (component side) at transaxle solenoid harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (component side) at transaxle solenoid harness connector. If both resistance measurements are 20-40 ohms, go to next step. If either resistance measurement is not 20-40 ohms, replace appropriate shift solenoid. See appropriate AUTOMATIC article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING.
  2. Disconnect TCM harness connector C277A. Measure resistance of Yellow/Violet wire between terminal No. 11 at TCM harness connector C277A and terminal No. 3 at transaxle solenoid harness connector. Measure resistance of Yellow/Green wire between terminal No. 12 at TCM harness connector C277A and terminal No. 4 at transaxle solenoid harness connector. See Figure and Figure . If both resistance measurements are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If either resistance measurement is not less than 5 ohms, repair open circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 11 (Yellow/Violet wire) at TCM harness connector C277A. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 12 (Yellow/Green wire) at TCM harness connector C277A. If both resistance measurements are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace TCM. If either resistance measurement is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate circuit.
