Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the two rear window defrost grid electrical connectors.

  2. Remove the rear window wiper pivot arm.
    1. Lift the pivot arm nut cover.
    2. Disconnect the rear window washer hose.
    3. Remove the nut.
    4. Remove the pivot arm.

  3. Remove the rubber grommet.

  4. Remove the screw covers.

  5. Remove the screws and the liftgate handle.

  6. Remove all of the liftgate interior trim panels.

  7. Disconnect the washer hose.

  8. Disconnect the lock rod.

  9. Disconnect the latch rod.

  10. Remove the six nuts.

  11. Remove the liftgate exterior molding.

  12. Remove the rear wiper motor.
    1. Remove the three rear wiper motor bolts.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    3. Remove the rear wiper motor.

  13. Remove the 16 nuts.

  14. With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate glass from the liftgate.
  15. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Seal the liftgate glass assembly with 4-mm (0.16-in) bead of foam core butyl or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSB-M4GB45-A.
