Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
CAUTION: Prior to the removal of the module, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to the appropriate diagnostic equipment. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed. Refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
  1. Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the lower center dash trim panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  3. Disconnect the vehicle security module electrical connectors.

  4. Remove the wiring harness retainer from the LH stud.

  5. Remove the LH nut.

  6. Remove the RH nut and the vehicle security module.

  7. NOTE: Once the vehicle security module is installed it is necessary to download the module configuration information from the diagnostic tool into the new module. Refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
