Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder.
    1. Insert the ignition key and turn to the RUN position.
    2. Using a 1/8-inch drift through the access hole, press the ignition switch lock cylinder release pin while pulling out the ignition switch lock cylinder.

  3. Twist the tilt wheel handle and shank to remove.

  4. Remove the three upper and lower steering column shroud retaining screws, and remove the upper and lower shrouds.

  5. Remove the lower instrument panel steering column opening cover.

  6. Remove the PATS transceiver module retaining screw.

  7. Disconnect the PATS transceiver module harness connector.

  8. Remove the PATS transceiver module from the steering column.

  9. NOTE: No ignition key replacement or re-initialization needs to occur with the removal or installation of a new PATS transceiver module.
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
