Removal and Installation

- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder.
- Insert the ignition key and turn to the RUN position.
- Using a 1/8-inch drift through the access hole, press the ignition switch lock cylinder release pin while pulling out the ignition switch lock cylinder.
- Twist the tilt wheel handle and shank to remove.
- Remove the three upper and lower steering column shroud retaining screws, and remove the upper and lower shrouds.
- Remove the lower instrument panel steering column opening cover.
- Remove the PATS transceiver module retaining screw.
- Disconnect the PATS transceiver module harness connector.
- Remove the PATS transceiver module from the steering column.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE:
No ignition key replacement or re-initialization needs to occur with the removal or installation of a new PATS transceiver module.
