Retrieve/Clear Continuous Memory DTCS: Description

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2002 Ford RV Cutaway, 2002 Ford Pickup, 2002 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2002 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2002 Ford Excursion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Retrieve/Clear Continuous DTCs is a functional test of PCM. DTCs can be retrieved or cleared with ignition on and engine off, or engine running. Unlike KOEO and KOER self-tests, which can only be activated on demand, Continuous Monitor is always active in monitoring the system. When a fault is detected, a DTC will be stored in memory to be retrieved at a later date, making it possible to diagnose intermittent faults. For vehicles with California emissions, DTC P1000 may be only DTC displayed, indicating an incomplete OBD-II drive cycle (more drive time needed). For additional drive cycle information, see DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE  under ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS. Injector Driver Module (IDM) stores both history and hard IDM DTCs. To retrieve IDM DTCs, you must run KOEO ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST  or KOEO INJECTOR ELECTRICAL SELF-TEST . The only way to clear IDM DTCs is to clear Continuous Memory even though IDM DTCs do not show up on continuous display.
