Seal - Front Output: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, raise and support the vehicle. Refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the skid plate, if equipped.

  3. NOTE: Index-mark the front driveshaft and the transfer case front flange to maintain driveline balance.
  4. Remove the front driveshaft. Refer to DRIVESHAFT .
  5. Remove and discard the nut.
    • Use the special tool to prevent the flange from turning.

  6. Using a suitable 2- or 3-jaw puller, remove the flange.

  7. Using the special tools, remove the front output seal.

  8. Inspect the flange seal surface for wear and damage. Discard the flange, if necessary.
