Removal and Installation

- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the accessory drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the crankshaft position sensor.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor field coil electrical connector.
- Loosen the bolts enough for the compressor to slide down one inch, allowing access for crankshaft position (CKP) sensor removal.
- Remove the bolt and the CKP sensor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove the A/C compressor bolts.
