Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  3. Remove the splash shield.
  4. Remove the accessory drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley.

  5. Disconnect and detach the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector and position the wiring harness aside.

  6. Detach the wiring harness from the bracket.

  7. Disconnect the A/C compressor field coil electrical connector.

  8. NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the A/C compressor bolts.

  9. Loosen the bolts enough to slide the A/C compressor down one inch, allowing access for CKP sensor removal.
  10. Remove the CKP sensor bolt and the crankshaft sensor.

  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
