Removal and Installation

    NOTE: Make sure the wheels are in the straight ahead position.
  1. Remove the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS .
  2. Loosen the steering wheel bolt, but do not remove it.

  3. CAUTION: Removing the steering wheel without using a puller can damage the column bearings.

  4. Using the special tool, detach the steering wheel.
  5. Remove and discard the steering wheel bolt.

  6. Remove the steering wheel while routing the wires from the clockspring through the steering wheel.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
