Removal and Installation

- Remove the front axle, if equipped. For additional information, refer to DRIVELINE SYSTEM .
- Remove the stabilizer bar, if equipped. For additional information, refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM .
- Drain the engine oil.
- If the oil pump is to be removed, remove the timing chains. For additional information, refer to ENGINE FRONT COVER, TIMING GEARS, CHAIN AND TENSIONERS .
- Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
To remove individual parts, only carry out the listed steps:
PARTS REMOVAL STEPS SPECIFICATIONPart Steps Oil pan 1-3 Oil pump screen and pickup tube 1-7 Oil pump 1-9 - To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install the front axle, if equipped. For additional information, refer to DRIVELINE SYSTEM .
- Install the stabilizer bar, if equipped. For additional information, refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM .
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
- If the oil pump was removed, install the timing chains. For additional information, refer to ENGINE FRONT COVER, TIMING GEARS, CHAIN AND TENSIONERS .
