Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.
    VISUAL INSPECTION CHART - POWER SLIDING DOOR

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Power sliding door (PSD) wedges and strikers alignment
    • Drive assembly actuator cable condition and connection
    • Sliding door tracks and track fasteners installation
    • Sliding door rollers binding or obstructed
    • Fuel door interlock mechanism binding or damaged (left power sliding door only)
    • Smart junction box (SJB) fuse(s):
      • 11 (5A)
      • 13 (5A)
      • 16 (5A)
    • Bussed electrical center (BEC) fuse (s):
    • 5 (30A)
    • 16 (30A)
    • 58 (30A)
      • PSD open and close switches PSD overhead console on/off switch
      • PSD contact alignment
      • Fuel door interlock switch (left power sliding door only)
      • Circuitry
  3. Visually inspect the power sliding door contacts for dirt, wax, corrosion or any build up that would interfere with the electrical contact. Cleaning these contacts with a clean, dry cloth can correct faults in

    the door operation. Do not use dielectric grease, sandpaper, emery cloth or any abrasive cleaners on the contacts. Also check the power sliding door contacts for excessive wear on the contacting points.

  4. Visually inspect the front and rear cables for damage. The cable may be abraded or frayed, resulting in increased door opening/closing effort. The increased effort may trigger the obstacle detection and cause the door to reverse unintentionally. The cable may be frayed due to incorrect assembly of the front and/or rear cable guide assembly. Circumferential cracks in the plastic coating do not count as a failure.
  5. Visually inspect the center track fasteners by making sure the head of each fastener is correctly seated into the track.
  6. Verify the power sliding door (PSD) center hinge does not have a bumper attached. This bumper should only be present for a manual sliding door. If this bumper is present on a power door system, remove it. Also on the PSD center hinge is a clip-on rubber bumper used during the manufacturing process to protect the paint. This bumper may be removed to improve door closing efforts.
  7. The battery voltage must be at normal operating levels in order for the power sliding door to open and close correctly. Make sure the battery and charging systems are operating correctly before carrying out the PSD self test.
  8. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  9. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • Check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • Check the connections to the vehicle.
    • Check the ignition switch position.
  10. If the diagnostic tool tester still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool operating manual.
  11. Carry out the diagnostic tool data link test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
    • SCP or ISO circuit fault; all electronic control units no response/not equipped, Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
    • No response/not equipped for LPSDM, Go To PINPOINT TEST A 
    • No response/not equipped for RPSDM, Go To PINPOINT TEST B 
    • No response/not equipped for the SJB, Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
    • NOTE: In order to carry out the power sliding door module self-tests, the overhead console on/off switch must be in the ON position. The power sliding door must be completely closed and unlocked. The vehicle must be in PARK and the ignition key must be in the ON position. For the left power sliding door only, the fuel filler door must be completely closed.
    • SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and carry out self-test diagnostics for the left power sliding door module (LPSDM), the right power sliding door module (RPSDM) and the SJB.
  12. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the appropriate DTC index.
  13. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, GO to SYMPTOM CHART  to continue the diagnostics.

    B1342 ECU Is Defective SJB CLEAR the DTCs. CARRY OUT the SJB self test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved, INSTALL a new SJB. Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
    B1676 Battery Voltage Out Of Range SJB Refer to BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM .
    B2477 Module Configuration Failure SJB Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
    B2545 System Power Relay Circuit Short To Battery SJB Refer to HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS , EXTERIOR LIGHTING or INTERIOR LIGHTING .

    U1262 SCP communication bus fault SJB REPAIR all DTCs related to the concern first. If U1262 is still retrieved, Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK for communication network diagnosis.
