Pinpoint Test AK: Power Vent Windows Are Inoperative

  1. AK1 CHECK CIRCUIT 882 (BN/YE) FOR GROUND 
    • Disconnect: RH Quarter Window Motor C4090.
    • Measure the resistance between the RH quarter window motor C4090-2, circuit 882 (BN/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes 

    GO to  AK4

    No 

    GO to AK2.

  2. AK2 CHECK CIRCUIT 882 (BN/YE) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Quarter Window Switch C2981.
    • Measure the resistance between the RH quarter window motor C4090-2, circuit 882 (BN/YE), harness side and the quarter window switch C2981-6, circuit 882 (BN/YE), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes 

    GO to AK3

    No 

    REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

  3. AK3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1205 (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between the RH quarter window switch C2981-8, circuit 1205 (BK), harness side and the ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes 

    INSTALL a new quarter window switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

    No 

    REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

  4. AK4 CHECK CIRCUIT 881 (BN) FOR GROUND 
    • Measure the resistance between the RH quarter window motor C4090-1, circuit 881 (BN), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes 

    GO to  AK6.

    No 

    GO to AK5.

  5. AK5 CHECK CIRCUIT 881 (BN) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between the RH quarter window motor C4090-1, circuit 881 (BN), harness side and the quarter window switch C2981-7, circuit 881 (BN), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes 

    INSTALL a new quarter window switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

    No 

    REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

  6. AK6 CHECK CIRCUIT 192 (PK) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: Quarter Window Switch C2981.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the quarter window switch C2981-5, circuit 194 (PK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 

    Yes 

    GO to AK7

    No 

    REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

  7. AK7 CHECK CIRCUIT 882 (BN/YE) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Measure the resistance between the RH quarter window motor C4090-2, circuit 882 (BN/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 

    Yes 

    GO to AK8

    No 

    REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

  8. AK8 CHECK CIRCUIT 881 (BN) AND CIRCUIT 882 (BN/YE) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Measure the resistance between the RH quarter window motor C4090-1, circuit 881 (BN), harness side and ground or LH quarter window motor C4048-1, circuit 882 (BN/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 

    Yes 

    INSTALL a new quarter window switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

    No 

    REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
