Power Sliding Door Operation

The following is a brief explanation of a normal power open cycle of the PSD.
- To begin the power open operation, the PSD receives a momentary ground signal from the overhead console switch, RKE or the B-pillar switch. The PSD may also have been manually released with the interior or exterior sliding door handle.
- The PSD checks the PARK and vehicle speed circuits from the SJB for ground.
- For the left PSD only, the PSD checks the fuel filler door switch circuit for ground.
- The PSD supplies power to the latch release actuator through the sliding door contacts which releases the PSD latch. Also, a five-volt reference is supplied to the position sensor.
- The PSD detent switch circuit is monitored for a momentary ground contact signaling the rear latch is released. This circuit is monitored through the sliding door contacts and will open when the contacts separate.
- When the PSD is opening, the position sensor is monitored for the door position and velocity. If an obstruction is detected, the door will stop or reverse depending on the conditions.
- When a momentary PSD detent switch ground is detected by the PSD, power is supplied to the drive assembly actuator clutch and motor, opening the PSD.
- As the PSD is opened, the position sensor is used to track the PSD movement and position.
- The PSD fully open position is learned by the PSD during the PSD initialization. When the PSD reaches the full open position, the PSD removes the power from the drive assembly actuator motor and clutch.
The following is a brief explanation of a normal power close cycle of the PSD.
- When the PSD receives a close signal, power is supplied to the drive assembly actuator clutch and motor.
- As the PSD is powered closed, the position sensor is monitored for door position and velocity. The PSD will react if any obstruction is detected.
- When the PSD contacts make contact, the PSD will then monitor the PSD detent switch position.
- The PSD detent switch circuit is monitored through the sliding door contacts for momentary ground signals.
- Just prior to the secondary latch position (power sliding door is partially latched), the PSD detent switch circuit is grounded. Once the PSD is in the secondary latch position, the PSD detent switch circuit is open.
- When the PSD receives this first detent switch signal, full power is supplied to the drive assembly actuator motor to completely close and latch the PSD.
- Just prior to the primary latch position (power sliding door is fully latched), the PSD detent switch circuit is grounded again. Once the PSD is in the primary latch position, the PSD detent switch circuit is open.
- When the PSD receives this second PSD detent switch signal, power is removed from the drive assembly actuator clutch and motor.
