Latch Release Actuator

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Monterey and 2004 Ford Freestar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Power is supplied to the release actuator by the PSD when a valid open command is received. The actuator unlatches the PSD similar to manual activation of a door handle. The release actuator is energized to release the latch until the sliding door contacts are separated. The PSD is unable to detect if the PSD is unlocked. If the PSD is activated with the PSD locked, the latch release actuator will operate, but the PSD will not open.
