Removal (4.0L)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove air cleaner assembly. Remove compressor. COMPRESSOR .
Disconnect pressure cutoff switch connector. See Fig 1. Disconnect compressor manifold and tube assembly from condenser discharge line and remove compressor manifold and tube assembly. See Figure. Discard "O" rings. Disconnect compressor manifold and tube assembly spring lock coupling from accumulator-drier. See Figure. Discard "O" ring seal.
Raise and support vehicle. Remove bolt and disconnect compressor manifold and tube assembly. See Fig 2. Lower vehicle. Remove compressor manifold and tube assembly. See Figure. Discard "O" ring seal.
