Pinpoint Test A: All Door Locks Are Inoperative From One Switch
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Ford Ranger. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- A1 CHECK THE SUSPECT DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Suspect Door Lock Control Switch Connector.
- Carry out the door lock control switch component testing.
Refer to the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS for schematic and connector information.
- Is the suspect door lock control switch OK?
- Yes
: If no DTCs were retrieved, GO to A2.
If DTCs B1309 or B1341 were retrieved, DISCONNECT smart junction box (SJB) C2280c and GO to A4.
- No : INSTALL a new door lock control switch. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- A2 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the suspect door lock control switch connector pin 3, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to A3.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- A3 CHECK DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Smart Junction Box (SJB) C2280c.
- Measure the resistance between the suspect door lock control switch connector, harness side and the SJB C2280c, harness side as follows:
Door Lock Control Switch Connector Circuit SJB C2280c C505 pin 1 (Driver side) 120 (PK/LG) Pin 9 C505 pin 5 (Driver side) 119 (PK/YE) Pin 5 C605 pin 1 (Passenger side) 1297 (YE/RD) pin 14 C605 pin 5 (Passenger side) 1296 (OG/BK) pin 10 - Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to A4.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- A4 CHECK DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR SHORT TO GROUND
- If the driver side door lock control switch is inoperative, measure the resistance between the driver door lock control switch C505 pin 1, circuit 120 (PK/LG), harness side and ground; and between the driver door lock control switch C505 pin 5, circuit 119 (PK/YE), harness side and ground.
- If the passenger side door lock control switch is inoperative, measure the resistance between the passenger door lock control switch C605 pin 1, circuit 1297 (YE/RD), harness side and ground; and between the passenger door lock control switch C605 pin 5, circuit 1296 (OG/BK), harness side and ground.
- Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to A5.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- A5 CHECK THE SJB FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Disconnect all SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
