Pinpoint Test F: The STOPLAMPS Are Inoperative

  1. F1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH 
    • Disconnect: BPP Switch C278.
    • Measure the voltage between the BPP switch C278 pin 1, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. Yes  : GO to  F3.
    2. No  : GO to F2.
  2. F2 CHECK THE CIRCUIT 10 (LG/RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280b.
    • Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280b pin 31, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and the BPP switch C278 pin 1, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : GO to F4.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. F3 CHECK THE BPP SWITCH OPERATION 
    • Connect a 10A fused jumper wire between the BPP switch C278 pin 1, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and the BPP switch C278 pin 2, circuit 511 (LG), harness side.

    • Do the stoplamps illuminate? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new BPP switch. REFER to BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : REPAIR circuit 511 (LG). TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. F4 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect all SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • Corrosion
      • Pushed-out pins
    • Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
