Pinpoint Test F: The STOPLAMPS Are Inoperative

- F1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH
- Disconnect: BPP Switch C278.
- Measure the voltage between the BPP switch C278 pin 1, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to F3.
- No : GO to F2.
- F2 CHECK THE CIRCUIT 10 (LG/RD) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: SJB C2280b.
- Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280b pin 31, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and the BPP switch C278 pin 1, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to F4.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- F3 CHECK THE BPP SWITCH OPERATION
- Connect a 10A fused jumper wire between the BPP switch C278 pin 1, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and the BPP switch C278 pin 2, circuit 511 (LG), harness side.
- Do the stoplamps illuminate?
- Yes : INSTALL a new BPP switch. REFER to BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR circuit 511 (LG). TEST the system for normal operation.
- F4 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect all SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
