Removal and Installation

    ALL VEHICLES 

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING .
  3. 3.0L VEHICLES 

    CAUTION: The fan clutch has a left-hand thread and must be rotated clockwise for removal.

  4. Using a strap wrench and standard 7/8-in wrench, remove the fan clutch assembly and position it into the shroud.
  5. 4.0L VEHICLES 

    CAUTION: The fan clutch has a left-hand thread and must be rotated clockwise for removal.

  6. Using the special tools, remove the fan clutch assembly and position it inside the shroud.
  7. ALL VEHICLES 

  8. Remove the bolts.

  9. Lift the fan shroud out of the lower retaining clips.

  10. Lift the fan shroud and the fan blade and clutch assembly together and remove from vehicle.

  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
