Connecting Rod Bearings: Removal

  1. Remove the oil pan. For additional information, refer to OIL PAN - 4X2  or OIL PAN - 4x4 .
  2. Remove the oil pan baffle.

  3. CAUTION: The connecting rod bearing caps and the connecting rods are a matched set. Installing the incorrect connecting rod bearing cap on a connecting rod may result in engine damage.

  4. Remove the connecting rod bearing cap.
  5. Lift the piston slightly and remove the connecting rod bearings.
