Exhaust Manifold: Installation

  1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket.

  2. Install the exhaust manifold and the nuts.

  3. Position the coolant tube and install the nuts.

    4. NOTE: Raise and lower the vehicle as necessary to access the bolts.
  4. Position the FEAD bracket and install the bolts in the sequence shown in two stages.
    • Stage 1: Install the bolts finger tight.
    • Stage 2: Tighten the bolts to 47 N.m (35 lb-ft).

  5. Connect the alternator electrical connectors.

  6. Position the right inner splash shield and install the pushpins.

  7. Install the front coolant outlet pipe and install the bolts.

  8. Install the oil level indicator tube assembly and the lower bolt.

  9. Install the oil level indicator tube upper bolt and the oil indicator.

  10. Connect the heater hose.

  11. Install the A/C compressor. For additional information, refer to AIR CONDITIONING .
  12. Connect the upper radiator hose and the engine reservoir hose.

  13. Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING .
  14. Install the exhaust flange nuts.

  15. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  16. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
