Pinpoint Test A: The Luggage Compartment Lid Is Inoperative - From The Remote Switch: Overview

  1. A1 CHECK THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID REMOTE SWITCH INPUT TO FEM 
    NOTE: Cycle the key from OFF to ON to enable the switched system power feature.
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Unlock the luggage compartment release switch with the valet key.
    • Connect the diagnostic tool.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Monitor the FEM luggage compartment lid remote switch PID.
    • Press and release the luggage compartment lid remote switch.
    • Does the FEM luggage compartment lid remote switch PID agree with the luggage compartment lid remote switch position? 
    1. Yes  : GO to  A7.
    2. No  : If the FEM luggage compartment lid remote switch PID indicates ON, GO to A2.

      If the PID indicates OFF, GO to  A4.

  2. A2 CHECK THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID REMOTE SWITCH 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Monitor the FEM luggage compartment lid remote switch PID.
    • Disconnect: Luggage Compartment Lid Remote Switch C207.
    • Did the FEM luggage compartment lid remote switch PID change from ON to OFF? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new luggage compartment lid remote switch. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    2. No  : GO to A3.
  3. A3 CHECK CIRCUIT 8-AA30 (WH) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: FEM C201e.
    • Measure the resistance between the FEM C201e-4, circuit 8-AA30 (WH), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : GO to  A7.
    2. No  : GO to A4.
  4. A4 CHECK CIRCUIT 8-AA30 (WH) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: FEM C201e.
    • Disconnect: Luggage Compartment Lid Remote Switch C207.
    • Measure the resistance between the FEM C201e-4, circuit 8-AA30 (WH), harness side and the luggage compartment lid remote switch C207-1, circuit 8-AA30 (WH), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : Connect all disconnected connectors and GO to A5.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. A5 CHECK THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID REMOTE SWITCH 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Monitor the FEM luggage compartment lid remote switch PID.
    • Connect a 10A fused jumper wire between the luggage compartment lid remote switch C207-2, circuit 31-AA30 (BK/YE), harness side and the luggage compartment lid remote switch C207-1, circuit 8-AA30 (WH), harness side, while monitoring the FEM luggage compartment lid remote switch PID.

    • Did the FEM luggage compartment lid remote switch PID change from OFF to ON? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new luggage compartment lid remote switch. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    2. No  : GO to A6.
  6. A6 CHECK CIRCUIT 31-AA30 (BK/YE) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between the luggage compartment lid remote switch C207-2, circuit 31-AA30 (BK/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : GO to A7.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit 31 -AA30 (BK/YE) or circuit 31-DA3(BK/OG). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  7. A7 CHECK FOR CORRECT FEM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all FEM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all FEM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new FEM. REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS for the removal and installation procedure. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
