Pinpoint Test Q: The Right Rear Heated Seat Is Inoperative - Does Not Operate In Low: Overview

  1. Q1 CHECK THE HEATED SEAT SWITCH INPUT TO THE HEATED SEAT MODULE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Right Rear Heated Seat Module C3163.
    • Measure the resistance between right rear heated seat module C3163-11, circuit 10-HC21 (GY/OG), harness side and ground while pressing the heated seat switch.

    • Is the resistance less than 50 ohms when the heated seat switch is pressed and greater than 10,000 ohms when the heated seat switch is not pressed? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new heated seat module. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : GO to Q2.
  2. Q2 CHECK CIRCUIT 10-HC21 (GY/OG) FOR OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Disconnect: Right Rear Heated Seat Switch C822.
    • Measure the resistance between right rear heated seat switch C822-6, circuit 10-HC21 (GY/OG), harness side and right rear heated seat module C3163-11, circuit 10-HC21 (GY/OG), harness side; and between right rear heated seat switch C822-6, circuit 10-HC21 (GY/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 1 ohm between the heated seat switch and the heated seat module and greater than 10,000 ohms between the heated seat switch and ground? 
    1. Yes  : GO to Q3.
    2. No  : REPAIR circuit 10-HC21 (GY/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. Q3 CHECK CIRCUIT 10-HC21 (GY/OG) FOR SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the right rear heated seat module C3163-11, circuit 10-HC21 (GY/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is voltage present? 
    1. Yes  : REPAIR circuit 10-HC21 (GY/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : INSTALL a new heated seat switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
