Pinpoint Test S: The Hazard Lamps Are Always On: Overview

  1. S1 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202.
    • Carry out the multifunction switch component test. COMPONENT TESTING .
    • Is the multifunction switch OK? 
    1. Yes  : GO to S2.
    2. No  : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. Refer to STEERING SYSTEM CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. S2 CHECK CIRCUIT 8 -LG43 (WH/VT) FOR SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220b.
    • Measure the resistance between the multifunction switch C202-7, circuit 8-LG43 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : GO to S3.
  3. S3 CHECK FOR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect all instrument cluster connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. Refer to INFORMATION, GAUGES & WARNING DEVICES . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. REPEAT the self-test.
