Pinpoint Test Aa: The Reversing Lamps Are On Continuously

  1. AA1 CHECK THE REVERSING LAMPS 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Observe the reversing lamps.
    • Are both reversing lamps illuminated? 
    1. Yes  : GO to AA2.
    2. No  : GO to  AA4.
  2. AA2 CHECK THE PCM 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: PCM C175a.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate? 
    1. Yes  : GO to  AA5.
    2. No  : GO to AA3.
  3. AA3 CHECK FOR PCM OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect all PCM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new PCM. Refer to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS - 3.0L (4V) - LS or INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS - 3.9L - LS . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. REPEAT the self-test.
  4. AA4 CHECK THE REM 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: REM C420e.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Does the reversing lamp continue to illuminate? 
    1. Yes  : REPAIR circuit 31S-LG9 (BK/GN) (LH reversing lamp) or 31S-LG16 (BK/RD) (RH reversing lamp) as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : GO to AA5.
  5. AA5 CHECK FOR REM OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect all REM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all REM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new REM. Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. REPEAT the self-test.
