Removal and Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to LIFTING .
- Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVELINE SYSTEM .
- Using a suitable transmission jack, support the transmission.
- Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Check the transmission fluid level. For additional information, refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL CHECK in this section.
Item 2: Output Shaft Flange Removal Note
- Using the special tool, remove the output shaft flange.
Item 3: Extension Housing Seal Removal Note
- Using the special tools, remove the extension housing seal.
Item 3: Extension Housing Seal Installation Note
NOTE:
Make sure the extension housing seal is correctly installed onto the special tool and the garter spring is in the correct position.
- Using the special tool, install the extension housing seal.
Item 2: Output Shaft Flange Installation Note
- Using the special tool, install the output shaft flange.
