Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS - 3.0L (4V) .
  2. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. To remove individual components, only carry out the listed steps.
    COMPONENT STEPS SPECIFICATION

    Component Steps
    Accessory drive belt 1
    Accessory drive belt tensioner 1-3
    LH Accessory drive belt idler pulley 1, 4-5
    RH Accessory drive belt idler pulley 1, 6-7
  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Item 1: Accessory Drive Belt Removal Note 

  1. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise to remove the accessory drive belt.

Item 1: Accessory Drive Belt Installation Note 

    CAUTION: Incorrect drive belt installation will cause premature drive belt failure.
    NOTE: Make sure the drive belt is correctly installed on each pulley.
  1. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise to install the accessory drive belt.
