Removal & Installation - Control Assembly

  1. Apply the parking brake. Place the transmission selector lever in Neutral.
  2. Release the lower instrument panel finish panel. See Fig 1 .
  3. Release the console finish panel assembly by pulling upward from the front first. See Fig 2 .
  4. Release the parking brake boot from the console base. See Fig 3 .
  5. Remove the console assembly front screws. See Fig 4 .
  6. Remove the console assembly rear screws. See Fig 5 .
  7. Remove the console assembly by sliding rearward.
    8. WARNING: The parking brake control will have spring tension on the tension arm and, if released inadvertently, can cause injury. Use care when working on or around the parking brake control when the tension arm is in the locked position. Failure to follow these instructions can cause personal injury.
  8. Using a screwdriver, push down on the tension arm until it is fully depressed. See Fig 6 .
  9. Move the tension arm down and release the screwdriver. See Fig 7 .
  10. Remove the control retainers. See Fig 8 . Disconnect the parking brake switch.
  11. Bend the retaining tab out of the way and remove the cable anchor pin. See Fig 9 .
  12. Using a 13 mm line wrench, depress the conduit retaining prongs to remove the parking brake cable and conduit from the control. See Fig 10 . Remove the parking brake control assembly.
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
