Pinpoint Test K: DTC C1799: EPB Hall Effect Failure

CAUTION:
Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
- K1 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Disconnect: EPB Module C4205b.
- Disconnect: EPB Actuator C4206.
- Measure the voltage between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits harness side and ground as follows:CIRCUIT PIN AND FUNCTION
Circuit Pin Function 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 Hall-effect Power 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 Hall-effect Signal 9-CG20 (BN/WH) 5 Hall-effect Ground - Is any voltage present?
- Yes : REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING .
- No : GO to K2.
- K2 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect the battery.
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits harness side and ground as follows:CIRCUIT PIN AND FUNCTION
Circuit Pin Function 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 Hall-effect Power 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 Hall-effect Signal - Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to K3.
- No : REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING .
- K3 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and the EPB module C4205b circuits, harness side as follows:EPB ACTUATOR C4206 EPB MODULE C4205B PINS
Circuit EPB Actuator Pin EPB Module Pin 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 10 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 4 9-CG20 (BN/WH) 5 12 - Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to K4.
- No : REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING .
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and the EPB module C4205b circuits, harness side as follows:
- K4 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Connect: EPB Actuator C4206.CIRCUIT PIN AND FUNCTION
Circuit Pin Function 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 Hall-effect Power 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 Hall-effect Signal 9-CG20 (BN/WH) 5 Hall-effect Ground - Is any voltage present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new EPB actuator. REFER to PARKING BRAKE . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB module.
- No : GO to K5.
- Connect: EPB Actuator C4206.
- K5 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect the battery.
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and ground as follows:CIRCUIT PIN AND FUNCTION
Circuit Pin Function 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 Hall-effect Power 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 Hall-effect Signal - Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to K6.
- No : INSTALL a new EPB actuator. REFER to PARKING BRAKE . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB module.
- K6 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and the EPB module C4205b circuits, harness side as follows:EPB ACTUATOR C4206 EPB MODULE C4205B PINS
Circuit EPB Actuator Pin EPB Module Pin 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 10 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 4 9-CG20 (BN/WH) 5 12 - Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new EPB actuator. REFER to PARKING BRAKE . REPEAT the self-test.
- No : INSTALL a new EPB actuator. REFER to PARKING BRAKE . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB module.
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and the EPB module C4205b circuits, harness side as follows:
