Pinpoint Test C: The Adjustable Pedal Does Not Operate

- C1 CHECK MOTOR SOUND
- Allow 2 minutes for the thermal overload to reset.
- Operate the adjustable pedal control switch.
- Can the adjustable pedal motor be heard to operate?
- Yes : GO to C2.
- No : GO to C6.
- C2 CHECK MOTOR INSTALLATION
- Check adjustable pedal motor for correct installation.
- Is the motor installation OK?
- Yes : GO to C3.
- No : CORRECT the motor installation. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C3 CHECK ADJUSTABLE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SYSTEM
- Disconnect the brake pedal-to-accelerator pedal cable.
- Operate the adjustable pedal control switch.
- Does the adjustable brake pedal operate now?
- Yes : REPAIR the adjustable accelerator pedal system. REFER to FUEL SYSTEM . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to C4.
- C4 INSPECT FOR FOREIGN MATERIAL
- Inspect the adjustable brake pedal assembly for foreign material causing a binding condition.
- Was any foreign material found?
- Yes : REMOVE the foreign material. RETEST for normal operation.
- No : GO to C5.
- C5 CHECK CABLE
- Dismount the adjustable pedal motor.
- Inspect the ends of the brake pedal motor cable for wear or damage.
- Are the cable ends OK?
- Yes : GO to C6.
- No : INSTALL a new brake pedal motor cable. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C6 CHECK POWER TO SWITCH
- Disconnect: Adjustable Pedal Switch C2089.
- Measure the voltage at C2089-3, circuit 32-AL19 (WH/GN) and C2089-7, circuit 34-AL19 (BU/BK).
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to C7.
- No : REPAIR circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C7 CHECK GROUND TO SWITCH
- Measure resistance to ground at C2089-4, circuit 31-AL19A(BK/GN).
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C8.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C8 CHECK CIRCUITS FOR SHORT TO BATTERY
- Disconnect: FEM C201b.
- Measure voltage at C2089-3 and C2089-7.
- Is the voltage greater than 0 volts at either pin?
- Yes : REPAIR the short to battery. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to C9.
- C9 CHECK CIRCUITS FOR SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure resistance to ground at C2089-3 and C2089-7.
- Are the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C10.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C10 CHECK SWITCH-TO-MOTOR CIRCUITS CONTINUITY
- Connect: Adjustable Pedal Switch C2089.
- Disconnect: Adjustable Pedal Motor C268.
- Measure resistance to ground at both pins of the adjustable pedal motor connector, circuits 34-AL19 (BU/RD) and 35-AL18 (VT/BU).
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms at both pins?
- Yes : INSTALL a new adjustable pedal motor. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
