Removal (4.2L Engine)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove drive belt. Disconnect compressor electrical connector. See Fig 1. Remove bolt and manifold/tube assembly. See Fig 2. Remove 3 power steering pump bracket bolts for access to compressor. See Fig 3. Remove compressor bolts and remove compressor. See Fig 1. Rotate A/C compressor shaft 6-8 revolutions while collecting oil in a clean measuring device.
